Achilles 3 - 0 Capel Plough 21/12/13

Achilles survived a strong appeal for a penalty in the first minute, the referee adjudging the offence had taken place just outside the area. The opening goal came soon after. James Horsfall pounced on a mistake in the Capel Plough penalty area to drive into the back of the net from 6 yards. After 20 minutes Liam Hillyard made a powerful run at the Capel defence and threaded a pass to Kieran Donovan who beat the offside with his run to double the home advantage.

Early in the second period, Chris Leys drove a free kick from 25 yards onto the crossbar. The ball bounced down on the goalkeeper's back and in the ensuing scramble was cleared off the line. Capel then enjoyed a spell of pressure that culminated in a free kick, headed powerfully goalwards by Adam Rawthorn. Jason Bones in the home goal made a diving fingertip save pushing the ball on to the post. This proved to be a turning point, for moments later Andy Coote latched on to a long clearance and chipped the keeper to make the final score 3-0.
