With two goals in the first 20 minutes, AFC Hoxne from Division 2 looked set to upset their senior opponents. Alex Blakely scored direct from a corner and then Robert Peake was fouled in the penalty area and Mark Ismay made no mistake from the penalty spot. Achilles pulled one back on 25 minutes. Rob Goodwin saved well from Mickey Adams close range header but Chris Leys was on hand to tap in the rebound.

Achilles equalised just after half time. Chris Leys was winning a succession of free kicks into the penalty area and eventually one fell to Taylor who turned and shot into the corner of the net. AFC Hoxne could have snatched the winner in the closing moments of normal time Ross Charters produced a fine save from Robert Peake who was clean through on goal.

Extra time proved to be a bridge too far for the junior side and the fitness and quality of the senior side came to the fore. The winner came from a corner. Adams crossed, Taylor headed back across the goal and Mark Lowe applied the finishing touches. Further goals from Leys, Taylor, Andy Coote and Mick Adams came as Achilles took control in the final stages.
