2012-2013 season

Ipswich Athletic 3 – 5 Achilles 12/1/13

Ben Taylor nabbed a hat-trick as Achilles overwhelmed local neighbours Ipswich Athletic in a superb second half performance that wiped out a 1-3 half time deficit. Taylor's first came after just 7 minutes when he burst through on the right wing from what appeared to have been an offisde position. Athletic equalised in bizarre fashion from a corner the ball ricocheting around before striking a forward on the head as he charged forward. Athletic's second came from a breakaway, the ball teed up for Ashley Reilly to volley spectacularly past Ross Charters and the same player provided the dangerous left wing cross that centre half Micky Adams deflected to give his own keeper no chance.

Harsh words from the away dressing room at half time were rewarded immediately as Tommy Vale was bundled over and Chris Leys converted the penalty. An excellent turn and shot from the edge of the penalty area gave Taylor his second and with 15 minutes to go Taylor repeated the manoeuvre after good work by Ricky Deasy down the right hand side. Achilles continued to dominate the half and it was no surprise when Josh Capocci added a fifth late on.
