Club Notes March 24 2014

Just one game for Achilles last week-end with the Inter As hosting the Inter As of Ipswich Valley Rangers at Salmet Close. On a bright, but cold, afternoon a strong Achilles' squad, sporting one or two Seniors making their comebacks from injuries, strengthened their top spot challenge via a slightly less than convincing 3-1 win over their opponents. Marksmen were Callum Moran, a fine effort, Dom' Arnold, an equally fine conversion, and Ricky Deasy almost on time. This coming Saturday the Inter As are away at Old Newton while the Seniors welcome Crane Sports to the Close.

Since the disappointing departure from the Suffolk Senior Cup at the hands of Eastern Counties Leaguers, Ipswich Wanderers, the Seniors have put together three fine team performances, a standard that needs to be maintained against old rivals, Crane, if the six point lead at the head of the Senior Division is to be maintained. Similarly, the Inter As need all three points to maintain their own League challenge to go with their cup final, coincidentally against Old Newton, for the Touchline Sports Cup at Woodbridge Town on the 7th May. For this latter match a coach will be leaving the Pauls Sports & Social Club at approximately 6 00pm on the 7th May and supporters are most welcome ("fare" £5) - please contact Dave Morgan on 01473 435867 or This email address is being protected from spambots. Fortunately, as matters stand, both squads have just three midweek games between them during April, the final fixtures being -
Seniors:
29th March, Crane Sports (H); 05 April, Melton (A); 12th April, Stanton (A); 16th April (Wed), Westerfield (A); 19th April IVRs (A); 26th April, Wenhaston (A); 03 May, Felixstowe Harpers (H).
Inter As:
29th March, Old Newton (A); 05 April, East Bergholt (A); 10th April (Thurs), AFC Crowley (A); 12th April, Westerfield (H); 17th April, (Thurs) Crane Sports (A); 19th April, Ransomes Sports (H); 26th April, Cops' (H); 03 May, Grundisburgh (H) (double header).
Finally, the most recent 100 Club winner was No: 16, John Deasy (£10).
