Club Notes April 14 2014

Ups and slightly downs for both Achilles' squads since the last notes with, after the 2-2 draw at home against Crane Sports, the Seniors trouncing bottom side Melton 4-0 over at their place and, then, last Saturday, travelling to the always difficult Stanton arena to triumph 2-1.

Meanwhile, the Inter As managed just a 2-2 draw over at East Bergholt but then produced a 5-0 win against AFC Crowley over there at Needham Market and, then, Saturday comprehensively beating Westerfield 4-0 at Salmet Close despite our visitors being able to strengthen their squad with their Seniors without a game.
The outcome of all this is that, for the Seniors, with Grundisburgh surprisingly losing at home against 10 men Haughley, the way is clear to the Senior League title if only we can win the last four games (bit like Liverpool!). However, one black mark at Stanton was the dismissal of top scorer, Andy Coote, for a mistake which, at most, surely, only deserved a "yellow". Meanwhile, the Inter As return to form puts them into third position with every possibility of climbing two steps further; that in addition to their defence of the Gipping Press Cup at Woodbridge on the 7th May (coach seats available from Pauls (contact Dave Morgan 435867).

The remaining games for both teams are as follows:
Seniors:
16th April (Wed) Westerfield (A), 19th April Ipswich VRs (A), 26th April Wenhaston (A), 3rd May Felixstowe Harpers (H).
Inter As:
17th April (Thurs) Crane Sports (A); 19th April Ransomes (H), 26th April Cops' (H), 1st May Grundisburgh (H). 7th May (Wed) Gipping Press Cup Woodbridge Old Newton.
Away from the park a reminder that the Presentation Evening is arranged for 10th May, the 16th Reunion Dinner 16th May (tickets £23 from Dave Morgan 435867), and the Annual Golf Day 4th July (Alan Middle ask for deposits £10 each and details of foursomes' names asap).
