Ipswich Valley Rangers 0 - 3 Achilles 19/4/14

Andy Coote tries to round the goalkeeperTable topping Achilles took a step closer to winning the SIL Senior Division with an emphatic 3-0 victory over third placed Ipswich Valley Rangers. The early chance fell to IVR's Alex Harvey who shot just wide. Achilles responded and Robbie Smythe grazed the crossbar from an acute angle before the visitors took the lead on 25 minutes. Dominic Arnold raced onto a wayward pass across the defence to delicately lob the goalkeeper. Minutes later Achilles were two up when Kieran Donovan poked the ball in following a corner.

Achilles attacking players ran rampant for the first part of the second period creating no fewer than seven good goal scoring chances, but IVR were still in the game when, with fifteen minutes to go, Clarke Bruce produced a fierce drive from outside the penalty area that Jason Bones could only beat away. However, Ben Taylor made the game safe for the visitors winning a strong challenge with the keeper to run on and convert unopposed.
