Club Notes 29 April 2014

Last week of the season and the tension increases with both Achilles' Seniors and the Inter As still well in for League honours although, after a thumping 7-0 win over lowly Ransomes Sports, the Inter As' 2-2 home draw with fellow contestants, Coplestonians, saw top place influence move away from them both to the Inter As of Crane Sports who have games in hand.

The Inter As last League game is at home this coming Thursday against Grundisburgh's Inter As and three points are a must, not least to give Crane's something to aim at (and, possibly, miss!). Whatever, the season goes on for Shaun Deller's squad with the Gipping Press Cup final against Old Newton's Inter As at the Woodbridge Town ground on Wednesday 7th May. Achilles are currently the holders of the trophy and, obviously, Shaun would love to hold onto the trophy before he moves up to Lee Osborn's Seniors' management team next season.

By the way a coach leaves the Pauls Sports & Social Club at 6 00pm on the 7th May and supporters (£10 "fare") are cordially invited (contact Dave Morgan on 01473 435867).

The Seniors have maintained a stronger hold on the outcome of the SIL Senior League and, with their 4-2 hard fought win at Wenhaston last Saturday a win or a draw against visitors Felixstowe Harpers Utd this coming Saturday will secure the coveted trophy for the first time for Achilles for some 26 seasons. The win at Wenhaston wasn't without its scares - 2-0 down after 20 minutes but then a fine fight back through Liam Hillyard (2), Dom Arnold and Ben Taylor secured all three points.

A reminder of the informal Presentation Evening in the Pauls clubhouse on the 10th May - all welcome (including children), please bring a plate or two of refreshments); the Reunion Dinner on the 16th May (again, tickets £23 from Dave Morgan 435867), also in the clubhouse - top former ITFC players as honoured guests; the AGM on the 28th May; and, finally, the annual Golf Day at Seckford on the 4th July (£30 all in - contact Alan Middle or Dave Morgan).
