Wenhaston United 1 - 2 Achilles 13/9/14
In the 5th minute Richard Idle cut in from the left and was unlucky to strike the post with his shot. But fortunes turned when the ball broke loose from a right wing cross and Pat Summerfield was on hand to sweep Wenhaston United into an early lead.
At the other end Ben Deacon saw his header hit the crossbar and the same player was well placed at the far post to turn in Dean Tourney-Godfrey's driven cross for the equaliser. Neat passing from Achilles left Andy Coote in on goal but his shot was well parried by the home keeper Rick Myatt. On the half hour, Tourney-Godfrey robbed the centre half and with a clear run on goal made no mistake sending Myatt the wrong way to put Achilles ahead.
Wenhaston United gained control of the midfield in the second half, but were unable to penetrate a visiting defence well marshalled by Dale Hammond and the evergreen Austin King.
