Club Notes 07 October 2014

Another excellent week-end for Achilles with the Seniors beating visitors, Wickham Market FC; 4-2 while the Inter As triumphed 4-1 at Walton against a strong Felixstowe Harpers Inter As. The successes ensured that both squads remain in second position in their respective leagues.

However, the Seniors got off to a worrying start at Salmet Close and, in no time at all, Wickham Market playing some fine football were two goals to the good. At this, admittedly, early stage it seemed that there could only be one winner - and that certainly wasn't Achilles - but a cheeky goal from Andy Coote just before the break gave us the "springboard" needed and by midway in the second period further goals from Dom' Arnold, Kieron Donovan and another from Andy gave us a two goal cushion which was held relatively easily until the final whistle.

Meanwhile, over at Walton Rec', the Inter As were always in control and goals from Ben Taylor (2), Adam Sturman, and Alex Selby secured another three points for Jamie King's boys.

This coming Saturday sees Leiston St Margarets at Salmet Close for the second visit this season - this time in the 1st round of the SFA Senior Cup - while the Inter As have a blank date.
