Senior Suffolk and Ipswich side Achilles were toppled by Ipswich Athletic from the first division in extra time. Athletic took the lead through a snap shot by Chris Lay early in the first half. Luke Mulley could have extended the lead but Tom Deller got behind keeper Jack Foster to clear off the line. Foster then was at full stretch to tip over Lay's 30 yard free kick. Achilles equalised through Danny Allan and then Andy Coote was denied by Josh Gifford's goal line block.
Achilles started extra time strongly forcing a string of corners that culminated with Dominic Arnold beating the advancing goalkeeper only to see his effort hit the goalpost. Ipswich Athletic came back into the game and a jinking run down the left hand side by man of the match Lay provided the perfect cross for Gavin VanOene to head home. Lay put the result beyond doubt with a controlled lob over the keeper before Athletic produced the best move of the match for Kosta Korantis to score from close range.
