Club notes 27 April 2015

After that fine evening performance at Trimley against Felixstowe Harpers last Tuesday - the 2-2 draw maintaining the points distance between the two Clubs, in favour of Achilles, in the quest for runners-up position - yesterday, Bramford United were welcomed to Salmet Close for the penultimate game in this season's battle for the pecking order in the SIL Senior Division table.

Our visitors, promoted to Senior level after winning the 1st Division title last season, have maintained their progress and look as if they will finish 6th in the table - a fine effort at the higher level! Further, they had beaten us 4-0 at their place immediately after Christmas and so Achilles had something to prove.

After the rain a fine and sunny afternoon had, despite the attraction just down the way at Portman Road, persuaded a goodly crowd to watch the encounter and they were treated to a most attractive open display by both teams. Surprisingly, half-time came with no score but immediately upon resumption Jack Wilkinson put Achilles ahead and further goals from Andy Richards (2), and a thumping header from Andy Coote put the issue beyond doubt although, from a fine move, Bramford reduced the final score to 4-1 just before the final whistle.
Once again, veteran, Paul Carter was asked to perform between the "sticks" - which he did admirably - and the performances of (usually) Inter A performers, "Scoop" McCarthy and Andy Richards, bodes well for the Inter As Gipping Press Cup final at Woodbridge Town on the 6th May. A word for the three officials - by far the best this season!

The final Senior game is away against Wickham Market on the 2nd May.
Away from the park another reminder of (1) the Presentation/Family Evening on the 9th May, (2) the Reunion/VPs' Dinner on the 22nd May, (3) the AGM on the 27th May, and (4) the Annual Golf Day at Seckford on the 3rd July.
