Achilles 5 - 3 Framlingham 29/8/15

For their second home match in four days against the second of the two promoted Clubs from the 1st Division, Achilles welcomed Framlingham Town on Saturday. Both Clubs had identical records from their opening two games and a closely fought encounter was expected by the sizeable crowd, taking into account the competing attraction down the way at Portman Road. It certainly turned out that way although, really, Achilles "bossed" the first half without being able to convert their superiority into goals. They did go ahead through the fit again Lee Grimwood but Fram' equalised from an excellent free kick by Chris Boardley to bring the break scores level.

The second half followed a similar pattern but half-way through the proceedings Achilles enjoyed a 10 minute purple patch and raised the score to 4-1 via three excellent efforts from Lee (again), Darren Van Oene, and Sean Hanley. It may have then been complacency but a disputed penalty and, then, a fine cross shot suddenly reduced the deficit, 4-3.With plenty of time left, Fram' exerted even more pressure bringing out the best from Achilles' custodian, Jack Foster. However, the home "panic" receded when a determined run by Darren resulted in his upending in the penalty area and a well struck conversion by Gavin Van Oene finally saw Achilles home by the 5-3 margin.
