Achilles 1 - 3 Grundisburgh 12/9/15

The first chance fell to Lee Grimwood for Achilles whose effort went just wide, but it was Grundisburgh that took the early lead in the 5th minute when Sean Hanley deflected a dangerous cross into his own net. Grundisburgh had the better of the midfield exchanges but the home defence held firm with Kieran Donovan dominating the aerial battles. Just before half time Achilles' Liam Hillyard, the pick of the home attack, was unlucky to see his header strike the foot of the post and rebound to the goalkeeper. The Grundisburgh keeper then did well to palm a rasping shot from Darren Van Oene over the crossbar.

At the restart Driver for Grundisburgh brought a good save out of Jack Foster and from the resulting corner the ball was bundled over the line at the far post with Calver taking the congratulations although it was not clear who had the last touch. Two fine strikes in the final minutes were the highlight of a rather dull match with both goalkeepers beaten by quality shots from the edge of the penalty area, the latter an excellent half volley from Liam Hillyard.
