Achilles 2 - 2 Wenhaston United

Wenhaston took the lead after ten minutes when Toby Payne rose unchallenged to head home. Achilles equalised moments later as Liam Hillyard burst through the centre of the defence to slot the ball under the advancing keeper. Wenhaston complained bitterly, with some justification, that Hillyard had won his challenge with the centre half unfairly - however the goal was allowed to stand. The visitors reclaimed the lead after 20 minutes with an excellent goal. Old fashioned wing play saw Craig Stammer turn the full back inside out before sending over a cross from the by line that was hooked into the corner of the goal by Lewis Chenery. Wenhaston might have extended the lead had Toby Ball's overhead kick not struck the goal post on the half hour. Achilles equalised for the second time just before half time when Hillyard was on hand to follow up Ben Taylor's shot that was too hot for Lewis Ayers in the visitors goal to catch.

There were no further goals in an entertaining second half although Ayers did redeem himself with a fingertip save to push Joe Revel's cross shot onto the post. All in all, a fine match with neither side deserving to lose and the draw a fair result.
