2012-2013 season

Melton St Audrys 1 – 2 Achilles 1/12/12

Achilles thoroughly deserved their third consecutive 2-1 league win with goals either side of half time from Ben Taylor and Jack Wilkinson. Melton St Audrys applied the early pressure but were unable to add the final touch to some excellent crosses from both wings – the best chance falling to John Kerridge who couldn't keep his effort on target when well placed. From that moment, Achilles took charge and Chris Leys came close with a header saved from close range. The opening goal came from a Micky Adams free kick into the penalty which wasn't cleared and Ben Taylor pounced on the loose ball to find the bottom corner of the net. Achilles doubled the lead just after half time. A pinpoint pass from Brent Richards released Ben Taylor whose cross left Jack Wilkinson the easiest of chances to head home across home keeper Callum Deacon. Melton St Audrys scored a consolation goal with almost the final kick of the match through Ronald Wright.
