Achilles 1 - 0 Bramford United 19/12/15

Spectators at Salmet Close were treated to a highly entertaining 90 minutes with both sides fully committed to open attacking football.

The opening exchanges created several half chances but the deadlock was finally broken on the half hour when Gavin Van Oene brought down a deep cross and his shot to the far post was too hot for Charlie De Lara Bell in the visitor's goal and David Grimwood fired home the rebound. Achilles started the second period on the front foot and Grimwood was unlucky to strike the crossbar with a firm header from a corner before Reece Booth managed to clear Liam Hillyard's effort on the goal line. Hillyard saw his free kick well saved and then stung the hands of DeLara Bell with a powerful drive as Achilles pressed for a second goal to make the game safe.

Despite Achilles dominance, Bramford could have snatched a point at the death when a long shot from Chris Cowan was tipped over by Bones. The contest was enhanced by a more than competent referee who maintained a rapport with the players yet commanded their respect throughout.
