Achilles 1 - 1 Haughley United 16/1/16
Achilles started on the front foot and David Grimwood brought a fine early save from Arron Mayhew in the visitor's goal. Danny Allen was influential on the Achilles right wing and after 15 minutes he was tripped in the penalty area and Liam Hillyard converted the spot kick. The home team should have had more to show for their dominance but the score remained 1-0 at half time.
Haughley took the initiative in the second period and stout defending by Gavin Van Oene prevented Ryan Sparrow following up after Sean Chapman could only parry a fierce cross shot from close range. The equaliser came on the hour, Ryan Wraggs bravely back-heading a wicked free kick from the left wing over the advancing Chapman. Achilles fought back and Haughley managed to survive a desperate goalmouth scramble and a succession of corners in the latter stages of a thoroughly entertaining match.
