Achilles dominated the early exchanges and it came as no surprise when the Ipswich side took the lead after 9 minutes. A neat one-two between Luke Hillyard and Ricky Deasy released the latter and his cross from the byline was headed in at the near post by Keiren Donovan.
Achilles extended their lead in the second half, centre forward Ben Taylor finding space to head in from a corner kick. Capel Plough came more into the game and a series of crosses deep into the Achilles penalty eventually led to the ball being forced over the line but the goal was disallowed for offside. Capel Plough did get a consolation goal neatly chipped in by Ross Dorward, but Achilles manager Lee Osborn drafted into a central defensive role provided club captain Brent Richards excellent support to hold out to the final whistle.
