Club Notes 24 January 2016

"Top of the Pops" this week should have been the Inter As' SFA's Senior Reserves' Cup quarter final against Felixstowe & Walton Utd's Reserves here at Salmet Close. Unfortunately, an early decision resulted in the postponement of the tie which will now be played next Saturday (30th) with a 1 30 pm kick off.

Accordingly, Achilles' attention was entirely focused on what could have been a tricky away game at mid-table Wenhaston. Not to worry, an outstanding performance by the Senior squad with near veteran, Andy Coote, back to "man of the match" top form via an outstanding hattrick, saw Achilles' returning south to Ipswich with an 8-0 scoreline to their credit. Other marksmen were Gavin Van Oene (2), both goals the products of an outstanding cameo performance, Liam Hillyard, Lee Grimwood, and "guesting" from the Inter As, "Scoop" McCarthy. This outstanding team performance lifts Achilles to second in the SIL Senior table and, with other results going our way, no wonder there was a buoyant atmosphere in the Pauls' clubhouse upon the lads' return.

This coming Saturday both squads will be in Cup games with 1 30 pm kick offs with, as mentioned above, the Inter As welcoming the Reserves of Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties Leaguers, Felixstowe & Walton United, while, almost concidentally, the Seniors travelling down to Trimley for the SIL Bob Coleman League Cup tie against fellow SIL Senior competitors, Felixstowe Harpers United.

"Away from the park" as they say, dont forget the Race Night on the 12 March, the Reunion Dinner on the 20 th May and the Annual Golf Day at Seckford Golf Club on the 1 st July - all events designed to "keep you happy" and to raise necessary income for the Club.
