Achilles twice forfeited the lead and in the end had to share the spoils as newcomers Ipswich Exiles defended stoutly to hold on for a draw. Achilles started brightly and stormed into a 2-0 lead with goals by Kieran Donovan and Ben Taylor. Exiles responded immediately with a free kick from the half way line that eluded the defence and was turned in by Clarke Bruce. Achilles were enjoying long periods of possession but were unable to penetrate the stubborn home defence and against the run of play Carl Gibbs equalised from close range.
Achilles maintained their domination into the second half and Kieran Donovan scored from the edge of the penalty area on the hour. Exiles were relying on breakaways to feed their lively forwards and equalised with ten minutes remaining through Gibbs directly from a corner. Despite a series of free kicks swung into the penalty area late in the game Achilles were unable to score again
