Grundisburgh 1 - 2 Achilles 6/4/16
Achilles extended an unbeaten league run to 16 games, with a narrow but merited 2-1 win at Grundisburgh to move within 2 points of leaders Cranes. Achilles going down the slope & with a strong breeze took a 7th min lead in a 80 min match. D Grimwood's excellent ball dissected the home defence & G VAN OENE poked the ball past young debut keeper Shorten 12 yards out. Shorten then excelled keeping out a whipped in Van OeNe corner, touching the ball onto the bar & making a fine reflex save from L Grimwood. Young put Beaton in to flash wide. Van OeNe's cross was met 1st time by Hanley & his shot hit Shorten & flew just past the post. Young curled a free kick just wide with Foster rooted. Coote clear through who elected to square to D Grimwood, who was stopped by a great Oxborough tackle. Van OeNe curled a free kick just over. 2nd half Hanley put Coote clean through again to wildly over under pressure from Reid, Pryke's corner saw Donovan prod towards goal, but Wright cleared off the line. 7 mins into the half COOTE curled a beautiful shot beyond Shorten from 20 yards in off the underside of the bar. Coote's cross from wide right hit the far post & Foster was penalised 8 yards out,the Achilles wall blocked Bradlaugh's free kick. 6 mins from time Deasy upended Oxborough wide left & Bradlaugh's free kick saw Calver head on & KERSEY headed past Foster at the far post.
