Capel Plough 2 - 5 Achilles 12/11/16

A hat trick from Carl McCarthy and two goals from Liam Hilliyard gave the visitors the points against a home side who never gave up but on the day were second best. Despite the wet conditions this was an entertaining game with chances being created at both ends through out the match with Hilliyard who had already gone close heading home a McCarthy cross after 30 minutes to put the visitors in front. The home team who lost Michael Sneddon through injury early on went close when Lloyd Dodsworth was wide with a freekick before two goals from McCarthy just before the break put Achilles in control with his third coming just after the restart from close in. Capel pulled a couple of goals back when first teenage substitute Joe Bigmore converted a James Brittain cross before Miles Donovan slotted home from six yards after a Stephen Morrison freekick had come back off the post. The home side pushed forward looking for more goals but it was the visitors who created the best chances with Tom Williams making some good saves before he was beaten in injury time when Hilliyard fired home a penalty after a foul in the area to complete the scoring.
