Waveney 0 - 3 Achilles 19/11/16 Suffolk Senior Cup
Achilles knocked last year’s champions Waveney FC out of the Suffolk senior cup by an emphatic three goal margin. The stark contrast between Achilles’ passing game and Waveney’s more direct style and long throw ins created an intriguing contest. The breakthrough came from a corner, Josh Little jumping the highest to head home in a crowded 6 yard area. Waveney were then somewhat harshly reduced to ten men on the half hour when their goalkeeper brought down Liam Hillyard just outside the penalty area and was red carded.
Achilles struck the frame of the goal twice at the start of the first half but 10 man Waveney were still looking very dangerous. Further goals by David Grimwood and Gavin Van Oene in the last 15 minutes however ensured the Ipswich side progressed to the next round.
