Achilles 5 - 2 East Berholt United 26/11/16
Achilles drew level with Cranes, who were without a game, at the top of the Suffolk and Ipswich League with a convincing win over East Bergholt United. The first goal came after 5 minutes when Gary Hammond, the East Bergholt keeper, parried Lee Grimwood’s shot into the path of Gavin Van Oene. Grimwood added a second shortly after with a neat turn and shot inside the penalty area. Van Oene made it three before the interval from the penalty spot.
Danny Allen volleyed home Carl McCarthy's deep cross at the post to put Achilles four up. East Bergholt pulled one back on the hour through a stooping header by Liam Powell from a free kick and then Benjamin Bibby reduced the arrears further from the penalty spot. McCarthy made the game safe for Achilles half way through the second half with a stylish turn and shot from 10 metres.
