Achilles 2 - 0 Grundisburgh 21/1/17 Bob Coleman Cup QF
Bob Coleman Cup holders Achilles looked sharp from the start and created several half chances in the first 20 minutes but the first pivotal action occurred at the other end. The referee whistled for a foul challenge on the edge of the penalty area despite strong claims from the visitors that the offence took place inside the penalty area and the free kick was struck narrowly wide.
The second half started as the first had done with Achilles pressing and firstly Gavin Van Oene fired just wide when through and then Jamie Lloyd tipped over Sean Hanley’s header from 10 yards out. Achilles took the lead when Van Oene’s shot was hand balled on the line and Liam Hillyard converted the penalty. The unwitting Grundisburgh defender was unfortunate to be dismissed and with 10 men Grundisburgh were able to offer little attacking threats. Kieran Donovan added a second goal to send Achilles into the semi-final of the Cup.
