Westerfield United 4 - 6 Achilles 2/9/17
Hanley's shot was charged down by Wade before Culf's goalbound shot was blocked by Revell. Hillyard's header flew wide before Westerfield went ahead when Keinzley's cross was laid back by Gosling to ELLIS who fired in. Ryland defended well when Ellis broke through. Hillyard turned well but blazed over and then P.Sewards's free kick saw STUART head past Chaplin to double the Swans lead. L.Grimwood had his shot well saved by Bone and then Ellis clipped his shot wide of the post. Achilles were awarded a penalty and although Bone saved Hillyard's spot kick, GARRAD followed up to reduce the arrears on the stroke of half time. Immediately from the restart GARRAD brought the scores level but Westerfield restored their lead when HORN chested in from a P.Seward corner. L.Grimwood's cross was palmed out by Bone into the path of HILLYARD who made no mistake from close range. Bone then saved well from Hillyard and Buxton headed over before GOSLING put Westerfield ahead again with a deflected shot. MERRITT equalised with a free header at the far post. Stuart headed just over before Leparvo stopped Ellis in his tracks with a great challenge. MERRITT put the visitors ahead ghosting in at the far post to slot home and it was MERRITT again who headed the final goal with a far post header to seal a good comeback from the visitors who were a far better side in the second period.
