Club Notes 22 October 2017

Another excellent week-end for the Club with the Seniors at Salmet Close defeating visitors, Grundisburgh FC, 4-1 and the (mature) Inter As recording an outstanding 7-2 win over at Bramford.

The home match was a fine example of the impressive standard of a number of the teams in the Senior Division of the SIL and, perhaps, our visitors were unfortunate to come up against our lads in full flight with Lee Grimwood and Joe Revell particularly outstanding in, overall, a fine team display.

Marksmen were Lee (2), Gav Van Oene and Sean Hanley and it was nice to welcome back from injury Sean and Liam Hillyard - the latter a work-based rather than an on- the -field injury.
Meanwhile the "mature" men were never in trouble at Bramford with Matt Mc Carthy (3), Keith Grimwood (2), Kosta K, and Tom Smith the Achilles' marksmen. Congratulations, in particular, to veteran, Paul Carter, who once again deputised for the injured Dougie Mustoe, and demonstrated what a fine 'keeper he is despite his advancing years catching up with the chairman's!!

As these hasty notes are in the process of compilation the news is through that, in the next round, the 3rd, of the Suffolk Senior Cup, Achilles have been drawn away again to be played on the 19th November - at the impressive stronghold of AFC Hoxne where hitherto, as quite a challenge to our lads, the Seniors dropped their first League points of the season.
