Achilles 2 - 5 Capel Plough 25/11/17
Capel Plough took the lead after 10 minutes with their first shot, not a fierce drive by Dan Alderson, but enough to deceive the home keeper, who could only fumble the ball into his own net. Achilles never really recovered from the setback, although to be fair Lee Grimwood twice came close and Gavin Van Oene hit the crossbar before, on the hour, Alderson doubled his own and Capel’s tally guiding in a cross from the right. There followed two penalties in quick succession, one at each end. The first to Achilles was well saved but Sean Hanley poked home the rebound. The second, conceded by Hanley, though hotly contested, brought the score to 3-1. Achilles pulled one back through Van Oene but the search for an equaliser left holes at the back that were twice pierced as Alderson completed a hat trick for the visitors.
