Achilles 5 - 1 Haughley United 2/12/17
Achilles got back to winning ways with a five goal victory over struggling Haughley United although it was the visitors who took an early lead, Darren Van Oene turning in a low cross from the right wing. Haughley could have added a second but for a fine save by Josh Hender from Lewis Kincaid’s penalty kick. There were chances to score at both ends but Achilles had to wait until the half hour for an equaliser – a fierce shot by Lee Grimwood that went in off the underside of the bar. A minute later Danny Garrad got beyond the Haughley defence and put Achilles ahead at the second attempt.
Achilles dominated the second half and added three more goals through Gavin Van Oene, “Scoop” McCarthy and David Grimwood.
