Club Notes 10th December 2017

Back to top form with a flourish, the Seniors really turned it on against fellow SIL Senior League title aspirants, Felixstowe Harpers, at the Trimley Social Club on Saturday. Having re-arranged his squad somewhat manager, Luke Hillyard, left control in the capable hands of his assistant, Andy Coote, and coach, Trevor Childs, and in very cold conditions the travelling support were thrilled to witness a first half display which produced no less than four excellent goals and, just as important, a fine spread of attacking football which our hosts could do little but admire.

Inevitably, the second half was rather academic but, later on, two more goals were added only for our hosts, who to be fair were hampered by one or two injury absences, to mark up one just before the final whistle sounded. The six goals were spread around with Ivan Buxton, Keiron Donovan, Danny Garrad, Joe Revell, David Grimwood, and Gav Van Oene marking up one each and, once again, Keiron named our "man of the match". A note to for the three officials who were always in conrol of matters.

The win places Achilles back to second to Crane Sports in a closely fought table although both our superior goal difference and two or three matches in hand could be to our advantage if not squandered.

Meanwhile, the Reserves were also in travelling mode, this time to East Bergholt but, despite on paper, fielding a promising looking squad "came second" by 3-1 against competent opponents with Nathan Styles our marksman.

Away from the park a reminder that the annual Xmas Draw books are in circulation with the players, amongst others, asked to sell £10s worth each for the "ceremony" to be conducted by President, David Routh, at 8 pm on Sunday 7th January in the Pauls Sports & Social Club. In addition, players are asked to ensure that any dues owing are met by the end of the calender year.
