Achilles 5 - 1 Leiston St Margarets 27/1/18
With most of the senior SIL clubs in Bob Coleman Cup action, Achilles, with games in hand on their rivals, played a rearranged league match. The Ipswich side took an early lead when Danny Garrad was tripped in the penalty area and converted the kick himself. Two goals by the club’s leading marksman Lee Grimwood ensured a 3 – 0 half time lead.
New signing Lewis Kincaid scored a brace with accurate left footed shots across the keeper in the second half and might have made it a hat trick from a similar position but shot narrowly wide. Leiston fought hard in the second half, hit the post and drew three excellent saves from Shaun Chaplin and fully deserved their goal converted by Luke Croager at the far post.
