Achilles 6 - 1 Benhall St Mary 3/2/18
Achilles extended their lead at the top of the Senior SIL division to 6 points with resounding 6 – 1 drubbing of early season front runners Benhall St Mary.
In the seventh minute Benhall took advantage of hesitant defending from a long ball as Aden Cook broke free to lob the keeper. Achilles equalised through Gavin Van Oene before the game was turned on its head by David Grimwood. Having been denied strong appeals for a penalty as he dribbled in the area, Grimwood got up to score twice in typical style and give Achilles a 3 -1 half time lead.
During 15 minutes of scintillating football following the break, Achilles tore into the Benhall defence scoring twice more, both goals to Danny Garrad. Lewis Kincaid added a sixth to round off a most entertaining display by the home side.
