Achilles 6 - 1 Felixstowe Harpers Suffolk Senior Cup quarter final 10/2/18

Suffolk Senior Cup holders Achilles defended their title at home to Felixstowe Harpers.

The game commenced with an excellent save from the Felixstowe goalie after a free kick by Ryland. In the 35th minute Garrad kicked off his hat trick for Achilles from 25 yards. The keeper could only watch as the ball sailed into the top corner. David Grimwood was tripped and the referee awarded a penalty from which Garrad secured his second goal.

Felixstowe were reduced to 10 men at the start of the second half when Matty Easton was dismissed. In the next minute Lee Grimwood increased Achilles’ lead. A Felixstowe free kick which hit the bar was answered with Garrad’s third goal – a result of good work down the left.

David Grimwood then scored Achilles’ fifth, which was followed by a slip in the home defence, allowing Webb to score the only goal for Felixstowe. In the 85th minute, Achilles’ talisman Hillyard was substituted on, and after some good saves from the Felixstowe goalkeeper, Hillyard managed to secure the sixth goal and a place in the semi final.
