Club Notes 19 March 2018

Sadly, both matches were called off because of the weather last Saturday. The Seniors were due at Leiston St Margarets but, despite our hosts neighbours', Leiston Town, playing, the Saints' pitch was declared unplayable. Further south the forecast was for heavier snow and, after considerable assessment of the situation at Pauls' Salmet Close, which included discussion with the appointed official and the knowledge that Wehaston's Reserves could well make a fruitless journey to Ipswich, with some trepidation, the collective view was "call off".

Unfortunately, the outcome for the Reserves is likely to be no match until the 7th April unless the Wenhaston match can be arranged for this Saturday (24th March) - with the Seniors at home against Felixstowe Harpers, this coming Saturday assumes that we can hire an alternative venue for the Reserves and Wenhaston are willing.

Our previous notes were awaiting a date for the postponed Suffolk FA Senior Cup semi-final against Woodbridge Town. This has now been confirmed as Wednesday 28th March with a 7 45 pm ko under lights on the Felixstowe Town ground - "Chantry area" support particularly welcomed.

Last Saturday wasn't all gloom as the Race Night in the Pauls Sports & Social Club's main lounge was an absolute success with a goodly and much needed sum accruing to Achilles' coffers. There was a fine turnout of punters from "yesteryear". Particular contributors to the success of the evening were former Seniors' manager, Alan Middle, Committee members, Simon Revell and Pat Morgan, Pauls' Steward, David Jacobs, Caterer, Tina Taylor and, of course, the Tote ladies, plus all those who made the journey through the snow. Many thanks to you all.
