Achilles 4 - 2 Crane Sports 28/4/18
In the 10th minutes James Blades was brought down in the penalty area and converted the spot kick himself. 5 minutes later Blades pounced on a mistake in the home defence to give Cranes an early 2 goal lead. Achilles fought back, Ivan Buxton unleashed a screamer from 25 yards and then just before half time Andy Coote’s speculative shot was deflected giving the keeper no hope for a 2-2 half time scoreline.
The turning point came midway through the second half when Cranes Neil Calver was given his second yellow card. Achilles Lee Grimwood scored almost straight afterwards. There followed a lengthy delay as Chris Pratt, who had collided with the goal post trying to prevent the goal, was stretchered off. Gavin Van Oene scored a fourth for Achilles as Cranes reorganised.
After the game the SIL Senior Division trophy was awarded to Achilles by SIL chairman Keith Norton.
