Claydon left Salmet Close with the points following a valiant rearguard action. Glen Dixon in the Claydon goal pulled off a string of fine saves as the visitors repelled wave after wave of Achilles attacks. The winning goal came just before half time from a free kick swung into the home penalty and met firmly by Simon Crane giving the goalkeeper no chance. Achilles might have equalised in a final hectic 10 minutes, but no player could apply the final touch as the ball was repeatedly kicked into the Claydon goalmouth.
