Capel Plough 1 - 2 Achilles 23/2/19

Despite playing the second half with ten men it was the visitors who went home with the points after a bad tempered scrappy game which saw referee Flaherty caution several players. Tynan saved an early effort from Gavin Van Oene before Coote put the visitors in front after ten minutes with a powerful shot from the edge of the area. He then saw a header cleared off the line while at the other end Middlebrook shot wide and Collins headed a corner just over .Rymer, who had already been cautioned, was lucky to stay on the field after a late tackle which saw Grimwood go off injured with Coote being sent off for an off the ball incident just before the break as tempers frayed. The home team missed a great chance to equalise just after the restart when Webb shot wide when clean through. Achilles then went two goals in front after Buxton converted a cross from Field after fifty five minutes and almost scored a third after a shot from Gavin Van Oene hit the post. Webb slotted home a Middlebrook freekick to pull a goal back with twenty minutes remaining before Crump made a brilliant save to keep out a low shot from Smith. Referee Flaherty awarded the visitors a penalty but changed his mind after speaking to his assistant with the home team pushing forward in the closing stages but the visitors held on to three vital points in front of the biggest crowd of the season.
