Club Notes 1st July 2019

A major outcome from the Suffolk Senior Cup success was, afterwards, the "stepping down" by manager Andy Coote although, indeed, he has indicated his intention to keep playing; whether that will be Achilles' Seniors or Reserves remains to be seen.

Andy "stepped into the breech" at a very difficult stage midway through last season and the Club is indebted to him in bringing home the Senior Cup for the second time in just three seasons and finishing a creditable third in the SIL Senior Division.

A great deal of hard work has proceeded behind the scenes already in readiness for the 2019/20 season and Achilles can confirm that the Seniors will be managed by Luke Hillyard assisted by Lee McGlone, and the Reserves jointly by Chris Crick and Lee Grimwood, with both squads benefitting from the back-up management work of Leon Wyatt and Jamie King.

In addition, once again, coaching arrangements will be in the very capable hands of Trevor Childs, who invites anyone "out there" seeking to join Achilles and who hasn't already been contacted by the management teams, to attend at 7 pm this coming Wednesday 3rd July at club HQ, Pauls Sports & Social Club, Salmet Close, Ipswich. A cordial welcome is offered to anyone interested in joining an ambitious Club.
