Achilles 4 - 1 Westerfield 17/8/19
Garrad’s early shot was blocked by Okundowo but Westerfield took an early lead when following a corner, the loose ball fell to BRKOVIC whose sweet shot flew past Welton into the net. Seward defended well from North’s cross and then Evans shot straight at Welton. Van Oene headed into the arms of Markham and then Evans shot wide when well placed. HANLEY lobbed over Markham to equalise for Achilles and then Gosling covered well when Van Oene was put in the clear. Garrad’s corner fell to Merritt who blazed over the bar. Cooper handled inside the box and G.VAN OENE tucked away the resulting spot kick to put the home side ahead. Just before the break G.Van Oene’s neat pass found HANLEY who finished well. The second half was mainly one way traffic with Achilles well on top. Wragg headed over and then the same player was denied by the legs of Markham. Garrad’s scissor kick went over before D.Van Oene was twice denied by good saves from Markham. VINCENT headed home from close range to extend Achilles lead and then Markham again saved well from Hamilton. In an isolated Westerfield attack Harmer’s ball was just too long for Gosling. Markham made a tremendous close range save from Codrington’s bullet header as Achilles ran out worthy winners.
