Capel Plough 3 - 3 Achilles 24/8/19

The home side picked up their first point of the season after a six goal thriller which included two penalties. They went in front after four minutes when Rankin scored from the spot after a foul in the area with Welton unable to stop the ball crossing the line after getting a hand to the shot. Tynan dived to his right to keep out a shot from Buxton and Merritt had a shot saved before a Buxton corner was headed home by Codrington for the equaliser after half an hour. Rankin fired against the post before Seward scored with a shot from the edge of the area to put Achilles in front with thirty five minutes played. However within a minute Reddington slotted in a cross to level the scores. After the break Harman went close for the Ploughmen before Rankin fired home another penalty after a late tackle in the area to put the home team in front again with twenty minutes remaining. The visitors pushed forward with Gavin and Darren Vanoene both going close before Grimwood's inch perfect through ball found Gavin Vanoene who made no mistake from close in after eighty minutes. McGlone and Vincent both headed just over but the home defence with Collins outstanding held out for a hard earned point after a game which was well controlled by James Tebbit.
