Despite the marginal difference in the relative League levels exchanges for much of an attractive match were on a equal level, indeed, Achilles' appeared to enjoy a slight advantage in terms of possession for the first 80 minutes of the proceedings. At that point thoughts on both sides were turning to the possibility of a penalty shoot-out when Lakenheath broke the deadlock via a well judged header from a corner. Almost immediately a fine Achilles' move down the left saw the excellent cross headed onto the bar and just over to the obvious chagrin of the Achilles' support.
That near miss appeared to take some of the spirit away from the homesters and, with time rapidly running out, Lakenheath took advantage of a misplaced pass rather close to the home goal and the visitors made the match safe with a simple close-placed effort.
