Leiston St Margarets 3 - 1 Achilles 7/9/2013

The first half was a disjointed affair as both sides struggled to come to terms with the hard bouncy pitch and gusty wind. Leiston St Margarets in particular were finding it difficult to get their forwards into the game and the first good chances fell to Achilles. Dominic Arnold's shot was cleared off the line by Stuart Balderston and then James Horsfall saw his unchallenged header from six yards go just too high. After 40 minutes Leiston St Margarets took the lead against the run of play when Arnold was robbed on the edge of the penalty area and Adam Webster drove his shot past Charters.

Achilles pressed hard for an equaliser and struck the bar twice but it was Leiston that were playing the better football and extended their lead when James Dutton cut in from the left wing and let fly from 25 yards. Achilles had the lion's share of the possession but, with Darryn Van Oene in fine form at the heart of the home defence, were unable to convert their effort into goals. Indeed, man of the match James Dutton showed his striker's instinct to blast Leiston's third into the roof of the net from a very acute angle. Ten minutes from the end, Adam Sturman scored a consolation goal for Achilles, but Leiston held out for a well deserved victory.
