Achilles 3 - 1 Ipswich Valley Rangers 21/9/13

Achilles leapfrogged league leaders Ipswich Valley Rangers with a victory inspired by a 15 minute hat trick of the highest quality from substitute Dominic Arnold.

Ipswich Valley Rangers were leading 1-0 from a breakaway goal by Clark Brucis, who timed his run well to beat the defensive line and round veteran keeper Paul Carter, when Arnold was introduced as a 65th minute substitute. On 70 minutes Arnold curled a free kick over the defensive wall from 20 yards into the top left corner of the goal. Ten minutes later Liam Hillyard was tugged back as he burst through and up stepped Arnold to curl another free kick this time into the top right corner giving Gary Lambert again no chance. Arnold completed his hat trick when Andy Coote picked him out at the far post and Arnold volleyed powerfully into the roof of the net. It was surely one of the best hat tricks this reporter has seen for many years.

As their frustration grew, Ipswich Rangers were reduced to 10 men and Achilles played out the match without further incident.
