Achilles 3 - 3 Stanton 19/10/13

Stanton took the lead from a long free kick by Martin McConnell that Achilles keeper Jason Bones let slip through his fingers. Almost from the restart, a mistake in the Stanton defence let in Chris Leys to slide the ball into the net past the advancing Jake Taylor. On the half hour the visitors regained their lead, Gary Ross stabbing the ball in following a corner that was not properly cleared. In a frantic 5 minutes before the break, Achilles hit the post twice, once from Andy Coote and then Mark Van-Oen before Taylor made a wonderful reflex one handed save from Leys.

Early in the second period, Stanton took a 3-1 lead from a free kick on the half way line. Under intense pressure from James Horsfall, Cordell Jackson got in a back header from 12 yards that went in to the top corner of the goal. Spurred into action, Achilles responded with an excellent cross shot by Dominic Arnold and the same player turned provider to cross for Leys to head in at the far post for the equaliser. Bones did well to parry a Stanton free kick from the edge of the penalty area and then block the follow up. Achilles continued to press for the winner and in the dying minutes, first Aaron Holding cleared off the line and then Liam Hillyard jinked inside the penalty area and two players threw themselves across the goal line to block his shot to deny the league leaders the victory.
