2012-2013 season

Achilles 1 – 0 Coplestonians 2/3/13

A goal after 8 minutes earned the points for in-form Achilles against fellow Ipswich rivals Coplestonians. Ricky Deasy picked up the ball on the half way line and ran at the Cop's back line. His cross was well met by Ben Taylor who made no mistake from 6 yards. Coplestonians were enjoying a lot of possession with their slick passing style but time and again floundered against the solid defence of Sean Bell and Chris Leys. Indeed, despite a lack of possession, it was Achilles that looked the more dangerous with further chances falling to Tayor and Coote before half time.

Achilles controlled the second half, stifling all attempts of the visitors to get to their penalty area. It was not until the 80th minute that Coplestonians managed a shot, Matt Bristo blazing high and wide when under pressure. Achilles had chances to extend their lead as the game drew to a close and probably deserved to have scored again. The match was well refereed by Mr Chapman and his assistants.
