Achilles 0 - 1 East Bergholt United 2/11/13

East Bergholt United had the better the early exchanges and deservedly took the lead after 30 minutes, Garrard unleashing a shot from 12 yards that was too hot for the home goalkeeper, who got his hand to the ball but couldn't keep it out. Hammond in the Bergholt goal was in fine form and pulled off an excellent double save firstly from Revell and then Donovan on the follow up. The Bergholt forwards continued to pose a threat especially Garrard who cut inside and narrowly missed with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.
In the second period, Bones kept Achilles in the game on 70 minutes saving at the feet of Gedney. Achilles gained some territorial control as they pressed for an equaliser, but failed to create clear cut scoring chances. Indeed it was fitting that the magnificent rainbow that appeared at the end of the match formed a perfect arc above the Bergholt goal as if to celebrate a well earned away victory.
The match was well controlled by Mr Smilie and his assistants.
