Crane Sports 4 - 5 Achilles 9/11/13

How do you describe a match that has everything? All action from start to nail-biting finish - nine goals, fingertip saves, a sending off and at one stage in the second half 5 goals in ten minutes. With both sides in excellent form, something special was expected and the larger than normal crowd was sent home buzzing with excitement.

Honours were even at a goal apiece in the first period, but Crane Sports were reduced to ten men in the 40th minute when Clarke was dismissed for an off the ball incident.

It looked like Achilles would win comfortably when they took a 3-1 lead but the 10 men of Crane Sports came back with 3 goals in a frantic 8 minutes that turned the match on its head and the impossible now seemed possible.

Achilles reorganised, substituting a full back and the replacement's first touch was a chip that came off the crossbar to present Achilles with an equaliser. At 4-4 with 5 minutes left a draw seemed a suitable and fair scoreline, but the final twist came from a corner and a diving header from Chris Leys. Goalscorers for Achilles were Andy Coote 2, Leys 2 and Kieran Donovan: for Cranes Sports Tye Webb 2, Nathan Woolard and Ben Miller.
