Achilles 2 -1 Wickham Market (Suffolk Senior Cup)

Suffolk and Ipswich League leaders Achilles progressed to the next round with a workmanlike performance against fellow SIL side Wickham Market. An evenly fought first half finished with Achilles leading 1-0. The goal came after 35 minutes when Liam Hillyard challenged Paul King in the Wickham goal and the ball ran free for Chris Leys to tap in at the far post.

Wickham Market equalised on the hour with a stunning 30 yard shot by Sam Taylor that found the corner of the net. Achilles responded and Leys' header into the ground bounced up and over the crossbar. Then after 65 minutes Achilles took the lead. Kieran Donovan made a strong run into the Wickham Market penalty area and the ball broke to Andy Coote whose shot went in off the goalkeeper. Achilles dominated the remainder of the game and had 5 good chances to extend their lead but found King in resolute form beating out three powerful shots from Liam Hillyard and two headers from Andy Coote.
